3 Simple Tips To Become A Better Tweeter
3 Simple Tips To Become A Better Tweeter
There’s a thin line that separates users at Twitter. The line differentiates on how users view the super-popular microblogging service, and how they use it as a result of this perspective. It means questioning the reason for signing up or deliberating on the purpose of every tweet. It even involves rationalizing who to follow, what tweets are re-tweeted, and how to build relationships. The line maybe thin, but it is important, and it is what defines the better tweeter from the mediocre one.
Clearly, a goal-driven mindset is important to become a better tweeter. The goal maybe to conduct business or for self-improvement. The user with a goal in mind is on the road to becoming a better tweeter, while the rest stay stuck and remain sadly part of the run-of-the-mill group.
Unless, of course, users follow the goal-driven tips below on how to become a better tweeter:
1. Tweet relevancy, or tweet nothing at all
Admittedly, Twitter’s huge success as it was starting out was due to the endless tweets from users who delighted in updating the world regularly about what they ate for breakfast, or what the weather is like in their parts of the world. But the service has evolved since then, and so should the content. Users must unstuck themselves from the dark ages by avoiding banalities when tweeting now.
At the very least, users must pause and ask of each potential tweet: is it worth the trouble to type this message? Or, how would I look to others if I send this message? Useful messages are appreciated by followers. So are replies to others’ tweets that indicate a sincere effort to communicate. If nothing else, even silence or non-tweets are better than haphazard tweeting that can detract from a good tweeter reputation.
2. Read, research and retweet
The better tweeter is always on the lookout for good materials on the web. Retweeting these materials – articles, news, multimedia files – shows the user as a tweeter of substance. Good retweets are only possible if the user has actually read the material, and has found its content worthy to be retweeted. When followers find the retweet valuable, it creates a ripple effect – being retweeted countless more times – and increases the standing of the original retweeter among peers and followers.
Conversely, bad retweets can be detrimental to the reputation. Followers love to follow people who show a bit of intelligence in their tweets and retweets.
3. Be a multi-media tweeter
Using cool applications like Twitpic and Tweetube, users can share pictures, videos, and music files in Twitter. The better tweeter is not afraid to diversify his or her tweets to include these different media. Followers will appreciate the variety, and will definitely perk up at the pleasing distractions from the monotonous 140-character text.
Adding hashtags to the tweets will make it easy for users to search for it. Making sure to use the most searched keywords in Twitter, even non-followers have a better chance of being directed to the particular tweet and for the better tweeter to make followers out of them.
