High End Vivacity With The Sony Ericsson Vivaz
High End Vivacity With The Sony Ericsson Vivaz
With all the mobile phones models out there, one would think the market is now heavily saturated to make a purchase decision a harrowing experience. But thereâs always room for upscale handsets that push the envelope of what a high end smartphone can be. The leading Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson hasnât allowed its financial distress to get in the way of regaining market leadership in upscale handsets that it redefined with the Satio last year.
It just made its first product announcement first week of February with a couple of eco-friendly handsets in the GreenHeart stable. Another is the trail-blazing Sony Ericsson Vivaz â a slightly tamer version of the Satio thatâs also on the Symbian S60 5th edition OS.
Top Notch Features
Its most remarkable feature is its 8 megapixel autofocus and touch-focus camera with LED flash and video light. It has face and smile detection and geo-tagging from its A-GPS receiver â enough to put the Vivaz at the tope of camera smartphones. But it gets better with a full 720p video recording at Blu-Ray quality 24 fps frame rates. This makes it a direct rival to the Samsung Omnia HD with the same HD recording capability and Symbian OS.
Showing off its gorgeous HD video recordings require a matching gorgeous display which in the Vivaz, is a near-HD 3.2-inch semi-wide VGA (360 x 640) resistive touchscreen, supporting 16 million colors typical in Symbian smartphones.  Thereâs the usual accelerometer for auto-rotate according to handset tilt. We only regret it does not have a proximity sensor to disable the screen sensitivity in a call. After that, all the other features are just your typical high end smartphone set.
On the hardware front, this is your basic 3G smartphone on the dual band UMTS (900/2100) with the usual HSDPA at 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA at 2 MBPS for high speed data connectivity. Of course, itâs also your quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) with GPRS/EDGE on 2.5G data connectivity.
Thereâs WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2,0 for wireless and wired data synching, respectively. You get GPS and stereo FM receivers, 3.5mm headphone jack and TV-out (VGA resolution) ports. Its 1200 mAh Lithium-polymer battery provides one of the longest talk times in its class at a remarkable 13 hours and a standby time of 18 days.
Software-wise, the Vivaz has the usual Java-based apps that allow integration with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter as well as media sharing sites like YouTube and Picasa. It also has PDF and MS office document viewer, Push email, WAP 2.0 NetFront web browser and the WisePilot navigation system and Google Maps supporting its GPS and A-GPS function.
Availability
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is expected to arrive at its target high end markets by the 2nd quarter. It will come in four body colors â silver moon, cosmic black, Venus ruby and galaxy blue and includes an 8 GB microSD in its retail package. Pricing information is yet to be released but we expect its SIM-free price to come below that of the Satio which is now in the â¤400 price point.
The Strength Of Sony Ericsson Vivaz
The Strength Of Sony Ericsson Vivaz
Sony Ericsson is once again scaling the heights of the Mt. Olympus of mobile phones with its very first product announcement for 2010 â the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. Anyone who has seen or owned the Satio will recognize right away its aristocratic pedigree. If not for its curved top and bottoms, or sides if held at a landscape orientation, the Vivaz is a Satio in a sleeker mold.
Itâs the official name of the rumored Kurara handset making the rounds of the mobile community late last year. Itâs now real. It runs the same Symbian S60 5th edition that runs Satio as well as its direct rival, the Samsung Omnia HD and the M8920.
With a more powerful PowerVR processor clocked at 720 MHz, the new Vivaz does everything what the Satio does except its 12 megapixel camera but goes a bit farther with high definition 720p video recording.
Few handset can match this feature. The HTC Bravo/Google Nexus is one rival in the 720p video recording but it only has a 5 megapixel camera with a larger 3.7â AMOLED capacitive display. It seems thereâs not one single handset that has a monopoly of the finest features yet.
Top-tier Superlatives At a Glance
The Vivaz brings HD vidcam functionality on the smartphone that only the Samsung Omnia HD had done before. It comes with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with face and smile detection, geo tagging from it A-GPS and touch focus which allows you to merely touch the part on the display-cum-viewfinder to get focused.
On those features alone, the Vivaz can claim few rivals in the market, being clobbered only by those with 12 megapixel cameras like its own brother Sato and the Samsung M8920. Itâs the 720p video recording that makes it a real stand-out in the same league as the HTC Bravo, the Samsung Omnia HD and M8920.
The gorgeous HD video recordings deserve to be seen, not from a TV out which it also has, but from the handset itself. Here, the Vivaz may disappoint as it only has a 3.2-inch wide-VGA (360 x 640) resistive touchscreen display supporting 16 million colors typical in Symbian smartphones. It could have been larger but Sony Ericsson had a higher design priority to make it a sleeker handset.
With a body measurement of 107 x 51.7 x 12.5mm and a weight of 97 gram, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the lightest among 3-inch touchscreen handsets. Anything larger than that would exceed these dimensions and weight. Thereâs the usual gravity accelerometer for auto-rotate but we miss a proximity sensor that would disable the screen sensitivity in a call.
Talk about sensitivity, the Vivaz has one of the best touchscreen responsiveness for a resistive display and doesnât even require a stylus with its large onscreen haptic alphanumeric and QWERTY displays. Not as good as a tactile QWERTY slider but does an excellent job.
Other than these, the Vivaz is your typical high ender. Itâs a 3G smartphone on the dual band UMTS (900/2100) with HSDPA at 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA at 2 Mbps and a quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) with GPRS/EDGE on 2.5G data connectivity.
Thereâs WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2,0, A-GPS with Google Maps and WisePilot Navigation systems, stereo FM receivers, 3.5mm headphone jack and TV-out (VGA resolution) ports.
You have social networking guru with java apps for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Picasa. Thereâs a 1200 mAh Lithium-polymer battery provides 13 hours of talk time and a standby time of 18 days. For a high end smartphone, thereâs really not much else to ask for.
Lg Upgrades Its Cookie Phone To Lg Cookie Plus Gs500
Lg Upgrades Its Cookie Phone To Lg Cookie Plus Gs500
Following the success of the orignial LG Cookie phone (KP500 and KP501) the manufacturer has now released an upgraded version of this hugely popular touch screen phone.
The new LG Cookie Plus is also known as the LG GS500 and further expands on the features and technology of the first model, due to be released in a range of colour schemes this new phone looks set for the same stardom found by the previous edition.
LG have upgraded the camera from a 2.0 mega pixel lens to a quality 3.0 mega pixels, however the most significant change comes in the phones connectivity options with the addition of 3G support not found in the KP500 and KP501 models.
The LG Cookie Plus also offers a slightly difefrent design to its exterior dimensions, the corners have now been rounded off moving away from the squared design of the orignial cookie phone, the LG GS500 also offers a 240 x 400 pixel touch screen display as well as an FM Radio and MP3 player.
The new Cookie Plus comes with far more support for social networking, there are pre-loaded applications for Facebook, Twitter and Flickr with home screen shortcuts for quick app launching.
This latest LG phone will be entering a market which is continuing to expand almost daily with touch screen phones that provide quick internet access, competitors that are currently available include from the Samsung brand the new Samsung Genio Touch, Samsung Tocco Lite and Samsung C3510 whilst Nokia offer the new Nokia 5230 and slightly better equipped Nokia X6 range.
This is a mid range, budget touch screen phone and with so many people looking closer at what they spend this category of mobile phone is proving extremely popular, LG themselves have recently launched the LG Pop which although slightly more expensive does not demand the higher prices of the top end models.
Further competition in this market also comes from the new Vodafone series of touch screen phones, these are called the Vodafone 541 series and come in a range of different colours.
This, interestingly will also be a sales point for the LG Cookie Plus, the original LG Cookie was released in over 10 different colour schemes with the white and pink editions proving the most popular, the LG GS500 is also planned for launch in a range of colour variants including Purple, Silver and Black which have been confirmed whilst we are sure there will definitely be a Pink version also available.
The actual release date of the new LG GS500 Cookie Plus is yet to be confirmed in the UK, however both France and Italy will see the launch of this phone in March 2010 so expect to be able to get your hands on this latest LG phone very soon after.

Well-Connected Jurors – Should The Internet Be Off-Limits In The Jury Box?
Well-Connected Jurors – Should The Internet Be Off-Limits In The Jury Box?
A recent article in Time Magazine examines the question of whether electronic devices such as phones with Internet access could be dangerous to the expectation of a fair trial. After all, in sharp contrast to just five years ago, a juror’s phone may as well be a computer in their pocket when it comes to the sort of information they can access on it.
With the stigma that jury duty has of being dull, jurors may be reluctant to give up their ability to check email or Twitter during breaks in the proceedings. Perhaps they’re itching to update Facebook with “is wishing this trial would end soon so I can go home!” But the impetus for a new rule in Michigan that bans the devices from deliberations is the research at their fingertips; should a juror be able to supplement the information provided by witnesses by what they can get from the Wikipedia app on their iPhone? And social media could also be a problem, as illustrated by one example given in the article of a juror sending a Facebook friend request to a witness.
This isn’t the first time that cultural changes have had a profound impact on the way that lawyers think about their juror audiences; during the past decade, the “CSI effect” has become more prevalent. The obsession with television shows featuring forensic science has brought with it an increased interest in the subject in courtrooms – and also an expectation for more evidence. Likewise, our just-Google-it generation expects information at our fingertips; we’re used to seeing source documents and are skilled at finding them for ourselves.
But is the banning of phones really necessary or should courtroom expectations be shifting with the technology and culture? Some believe that the real danger could be that of misinformation – and worse, the possibility of misinformation planted online with the intention of influencing jury pools. Perhaps it is more difficult for justice to be blind when she has a search engine in her pocket.
LegalTube is the only legal directory where finding a lawyer or the answers to your law-related questions is as easy as channel surfing” according to the master content documents provided by the client. The Lg Mini Gd880 To Feature The World’s First Air Sync
The Lg Mini Gd880 To Feature The World’s First Air Sync
LG Electronics wows the mobile phone community on the eve of the highly anticipated 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. LG didn’t wait to unveil it in the event to match rival Samsung’s similar touchscreen in the S8520 Monte unveiled at about the same time.
LG has upped the ante with another new touchscreen smartphone that combines functional richness and affordability in a no-nonsense stark body that is so simple you wonder why the others never thought about it. This is the LG Mini GD880 in a touchscreen monolith. With just a 10.6mm thickness, the Mini can claim to be among the thinnest touchscreen smartphone out there.
A First of its Kind
At the recently concluded MWC, LG passed out information that its new LG Mini will be its first smartphone and certainly the first in the world, to feature its new Air Sync feature. This allows continuous data synching between a PC and your handset over the air possibly using the DLNA capability of its WiFi. It will sync with your PC’s media content as well as the last 100 websites you have visited on your PC regardless of search results.
Features at A Glance
The LG Mini is a dual band 3G/UMTS(900/2100) with HSDPA at 7.2 MBps and HSUPA at 2 MBps. It is also a standard quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) with GPRS/EDGE on the 2G network. Data connectivity comes with WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0. There’s also a built-in GPS receiver with Assisted GPS
For an exquisite imaging, it has a 5-megapixel autofocus camera that features image stabilization, face/smile detection, geo-tagging and VGA video recording at 15fps. A front-facing secondary camera support 3G video calls.
Its stand-out feature is a 3.2-inch TFT LCD resistive touchscreen with WideVGA 480 x 854 pixel resolution supporting 256k colors. There’s multitouch with gesture control, an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor and scratch resistance glass surface. Multimedia features come with usual media players for all the popular audio and video file formats including DivX and Xvid. You also get Dolby Mobile, FM stereo with RDS and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Internal phone memory is limited to just 330 MB with up 1,000 phonebook entries capable of photocall. This gets memory expandability with a hot-swappable microSD for up to 32 GB. A 900 mAh Lithium-ion battery (LGIP-550N) powers up the handset but the press release was silent on the talk and standby times.
The LG Mini GD880 uses a proprietary OS that has the popular S-Class UI and is bundled with a document viewer for PDF and MS Office files, WAP-enabled web browser with Java and Flash video and email client support. Its social networking prowess comes from a suite of apps like the Social Network Connect for staying constantly in touch with your SNS friends online, a Social Networking Feed for instant updates to Facebook and Twitter directly from the homescreen and a Social Address Book that contains all your online SNS contacts forming a subset to the phonebook.
The Lg Mini Gd880 – Redefining What A Mini Is
The Lg Mini Gd880 – Redefining What A Mini Is
The mobile phone community is recently treated to one of the smallest touchscreen smartphone from the Korean mobile phone innovator LG with the announced LG Mini GD880. It comes at about the same time as its compatriot rival Samsung unveiled a similar S8520 Monte a few days before the start of the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
If the pre-Mobile World Congress press kit is to be believed, it is the world’s smallest full touchscreen handset in the market for now. “We developed the LG Mini in response to specific requests from actual consumers who were unhappy with current full touchscreen phones that are too bulky, too clunky and too expensive,” declares the President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Dr. Skott Ahn. “The easily pocketable LG Mini delivers great looks at a reasonable price, along with the trendy features that people want.” Indeed, while it lives up to the “Mini” name in looks, size and pocketability, there’s nothing “mini” about its feature set.
Upscale Features
A front-facing secondary camera supports 3G video calls.
You get a decent phone memory at 330 MB plus up to 1,000 phonebook entries with photocall. You can expand this with a hot-swappable microSD for up to 32 GB. A 900 mAh Lithium-ion battery (LGIP-550N) powers up the handset.
Software-wise, the handset uses LG’s proprietary OS the popular S-Class UI on top. It comes pre-bundled with a document viewer for MS Office and PDF files, a WAP-enabled HTML browser with Flash video as well as email client support.  LG positions it as a social networking aware handset with apps like the Social Network Feed that automatically updates your Facebook and twitter accounts, a Social Network Connect for getting in touch with your SNS friends easier than on a PC and a Social Address Book containing all your online SNS contacts.
Availability
Release of the new LG Mini GD880 is planned starting this March in key European cities with April for the UK and elsewhere thereafter. Pricing will be disclosed as the handset reaches its markets on a country-to-country basis.

Compact Beauty And Richness In The Lg Mini Gd880
Compact Beauty And Richness In The Lg Mini Gd880
One of the slimmest and arguably the smallest touchscreen smartphone on the plant was unveiled by LG Electronics just before the 2010 Mobile World Congress early February and should be out starting March in Europe, April in the UK and progressively in other markets thereafter.
This is the LG Mini GD880, sporting the simplest monolithic lines on an all-aluminum body measuring just 102 x 47.6 x 10.6 mm and weigh a very pocket-friendly 99 grams. What is remarkable about it is a 3.2-inch is display that almost bleeds to the side edges, wasting no space with a very narrow bezel framing, leaving just enough for a secondary VGA camera at the top and bottom space to balance it.
It’s interesting to hear Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, talk about it as product of consumer research on what they want on a smartphone and declares “We developed the LG Mini in response to specific requests from actual consumers who were unhappy with current full touchscreen phones that are too bulky, too clunky and too expensive.” That statement epitomizes what the LG Mini is – compact in size and prize (as LG promised it would be) but a look at its spec sheet reveals these laudable traits are deceptive as there’s nothing compact or mini about its feature set.
At a Glance and Up Close
Firstly, the LG Mini comes with what LG calls its first ever implementation of the Air Sync on its smartphones. The feature allows continuous over-the-air data synching between the handset and you desktop or laptop PC to update media content on both devices anytime they are close.
LG is silent on the technology but this could be an application of the DLNA feature of its WiFi connectivity. In addition, the handset draws out the last 100 websites you’ve visited on your PC every time regardless of search results.
The LG Mini runs its own OS with the famous S-Class UI that LG smartphones have become noted for. It is also a socially-aware smartphone with SNS apps like the Social Network Contact listing all your online friends in Facebook and twitter, the Social Network Connect that makes getting in touch with them a breeze and the Social Network Feed that instantly updates your SNS sites. Other than that, the LG Mini is as feature-rich as any bulkier and pricier smartphones in its class.
You get a dual band 3G phone with HSDPA at 7.2 MBps and HSUPA at 2 MBps. It’s also your standard quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G. Data connectivity comes with the usual WiFi with DLNA, microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1. You also get SatNav functionality from its built-in GPS receiver with Assisted GPS.
The LG Mini GD880 comes with a 3.2-inch WideVGA TFT LCD resistive touchscreen display with 256 k colors. An accelerometer, ambient light sensor and scratch resistant glass cover are there. Imaging gets a glorious 5-megapixel autofocus camera with image stabilization, geo tagging, face and smile detection and VGA recording at 15fps. Multimedia is supported with media playback for the popular audio and video codecs that includes DivX and Xvid. You also get Dolby Mobile, stereo FM with RDS and a 3.5 headphone jack.
Phone memory gets 330 MB with up to 1,000 phonebook entries capable of photocall. With its microSD slot, you can have up to 32 GB of hot-swappable external memory.
Lg Mini Gd880 – Nothing Mini About The Features
Lg Mini Gd880 – Nothing Mini About The Features
Some of the most elegant and stylish mobile phones have been coming from a couple of Korean mobile phone innovators in the industry. You know these guys. One of them, LG Electronics just unveiled the LG Mini GD880, a good week after it got some product leaks on the internet. This could be one reason LG didn’t wait for the upcoming 2010 Mobile World Conference to announce its new baby.
The LG Mini is not a mini of anything currently on the LG smartphone stable as it stands on its own, redefining what a mini smartphone should be. Not only does it sport the simplest minimalist design, it also promises to be a “mini” in price when it hits the markets starting this March in Europe and April for the UK and elsewhere.
With a 3.2-inch display that maximized the body façade that almost bleeds to the side edges with a narrow bezel, the LG Mini looks like an all-display handset measuring 102 x 47.6 x 10.6 mm and weighing a mere 99 grams to make it one of the slimmest and arguably the smallest touchscreen monolithic smartphone on the planet.
But one thing for sure, it’s no “Mini” in the features department. It may be a mini on the outside and on the price tag (that’s what LG promised in the just concluded MWC), it has the features to rival some of the bulkier, heftier and pricier smartphones in the market.
Rich Features up Close
LG is proud to proclaim the LG Mini as its first ever implementation of the Air Sync feature on its smartphones, possibly making use of the DLNA facility of the WiFi protocol set. It allows continuous over-the-air data synch between your handset and your PC to update audio, video and image content on both devices. The synching may be embarrassing if it ends in someone else’s hands as it also draws out the last 100 websites you’ve visited on your PC, regardless of search results.
It runs its own OS with the S-Class UI that non-Android LG smartphones have become known for.  The LG Mini is also a socially-aware smartphone that features social networking apps such as Social Network Feed which continuously updates your Facebook and Twitter accounts, the Social Network Contact listing all your online SNS friends and the Social Network Connect that allows getting in touch with them easier and faster than on a PC.
It’s a quad band GSM/GPS/EDGE on 2G and a dual band 3G phone with HSDPA at 7.2 MBps and HSUPA at 2 MBps. WiFi with DLNA, microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 complete the local data connectivity options. There’s also SatNav functionality with a built-in GPS receiver with Assisted GPS.
The LG Mini GD880 stands out with its 3.2-inch WideVGA display that dominates almost every part of its face. It’s a TFT LCD resistive touchscreen display with 256 k colors, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and scratch resistant glass cover. Its imaging comes with a 5-megapixel autofocus snapper featuring geo tagging, image stabilization, face/smile detection and VGA recording at 15fps.
Multimedia gets the usual media playback support for the popular audio and video codecs including Xvid/DivX. It comes with stereo FM receiver with RDS, Dolby Mobile and a 3.5 headphone jack. You get 330 MB internal memory tops with up to 1,000 phonebook entries capable of photocall and is expandable with a hot-swappable microSD for up to 32 GB.

Get A Free Ipad And Be The Envy Of Your Co-Workers
Ever been bullied by your co-workers because you seem to have been lackluster with the hottest gadgets, there is? Big boys can be immature sometimes, when in comes to acquire newest digital devices these days. Eventually they pick on you even when you are friends with them just because you don’t own a latest device. This time, you can be the center of attention, just avail of the free iPad offer.
The technologies have come so far, that computers and related digital devices are no longer exclusive for business purposes. These have invaded almost every person’s lifestyle. From getting hooked with social networking, like twitter and Facebook to using this internet apps for business purposes. That’s why an all-in-one device like an iPad will revolutionize the way people live.
Well, that’s Apple Inc. promise, and yet to be proven because the product is not available ‘until April 2010. Thus, this is the reason for giving away free iPads. It’s because they would like to request nobody’s like us to test it. They needed ordinary individuals, not celebrities, to provide them honest feedback about iPads functional.
It’s because when celebrities are asking to publicized feedback they are paid in millions and their words are scripted. So it’s like there were no comments ever given about the product’s functional. This doesn’t help the company to determine if the product is actually perceived as well to use or not at all.
So Apple Inc. has changed the strategy for fishing feedbacks from users of their product. Instead of gathering them after the product is sold to the market, they do it before the public can buy them. So a volunteer product tester is encouraged, in return, they get a free iPad. Which is also the same device that a product tester test?
So, it’s an easy work, the compensation may not be monetary but what’s at stake is more than that. If you have been pestered by your co-employees for not owning latest gizmos, this is your chance to avenge. Just visit the website authorized to accept volunteers, CNN has even announced this. Follow the website’s instructions and then wait for your fee iPad to arrive at your doorsteps, that simple.
