RSS Syndication – Crash Course For Novice’s and Experts Alike
RSS feed technology has grown very rapidly over the past few years and is revolutionizing how information is distributed on the internet. This technology is just as important as the shift from newspaper advertising to internet directory advertising, providing an even more powerful way to market your products and business.
Feeds allow you to connect your websites feed to other websites so that the information from your website can be automatically syndicated and re distributed around the internet. Think of it like internet exposure times 10!
In the past bloggers and internet marketer’s used to have to manually sign in to all their blogs and other web sites to update their information. Nowadays, with feeds all you have to do is connect the feeds between all your blogs and websites and they are all updated automatically!!
RSS feeds create a bigger digital footprint, using less effort. A must for anyone that wants to keep up with the competition!
Feeds are a wonderful way to allow other websites to help promote your products and information and idea’s. In addition, it lets the people that are most interested in you to subscribe to your feeds so that they will be automatically updated as you update your websites and blogs.
RSS feeds are everywhere. Blogs, online news websites and a lot of other internet mediums are using this technology. Example: Facebook and Twitter are like RSS feeds. When you add someone as your friend or follow someone, you are subscribing to their feed of information and you are automatically updated of their status.
Instead of your having to search out your favorite information everyday, feeds allow you to subscribe to the information that you want to stream to you. This is done by installing an Rss feed aggregator on your computer.
Within this article I am not going to list any aggregators, or recommend my favorite one’s. YouTube has a lot of videos that will introduce you to the latest aggregators and all their features. I recommend searching YouTube for “RSS Aggregator”.
Aggregators are great. They can allow you to stay updated, in real time, when your favorite websites get new information. I like to think of it as your own personal magazine of all the most important things happening in your world.
Aggregators are like subscribing to peoples tweets on Twitter, but instead of short 140 word tweets you get complete articles of information from websites!
The biggest difference between aggregators is that some are web based, meaning that you can access your feeds from anywhere, from any computer. Other aggregators are software based, meaning that you have to install software and your feeds can only be accessed from that particular computer.
Choosing an aggregator is all a matter of personal preference. My best recommendation is to browse YouTube and choose an aggregator that is simple and that you can easily understand.
Not all websites offer RSS feeds. If you want to subscribe to information and your favorite website does not provide an RSS feed than you may want to browse RSS directories. These directories are an excellent way to stay updated on your favorite baseball team, the weather, stock market, local news, etc.
Search Google or YouTube for “RSS directory” and you can easily start adding feeds to your aggregator.
