Social Media As A Business Opportunity
Social Media As A Business Opportunity
Social media business online.com is an indistinguishable part of a total of six integrated websites dedicated to strategies and its four pillars that are collaboration, communication, education and entertainment. This is a completely unique formula of making a web presence and creating an ultimate environment for entrepreneurs such that their old ways of doing business is completely transformed, thus creating a better scope for employees, clients, suppliers and existing customers. The four pillars of social media strategies allow active services, business and endorsements.
Here is a question for you. How successful have you been with pitching your business opportunity to your family and friends? Most people would answer that question with “not successful at all”. Want to know why? In order to have success with any type of business, you have to target the people who are looking for what you have to offer. If people are on a social media site, it’s not because they are searching for a business opportunity.
If you feel you do not have time, then you may wish to consider what the big boys are doing. An annual study conducted by the Center for Marketing Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth revealed that 91% of the 148 companies within Inc. 500 companies used social media such as Blogging, Tweeter and Facebook just to name a few. Also, 1 out of 2 companies actively used LinkedIn.
Also, within you following will be other people with complementary skills and services. These are people that can help you on larger projects, as vendors, or simply as referral partners. To maximize this part of the Twitter opportunity make sure you are quick to refer someone if you see an appropriate inquiry.
Social media provides an outlet that can “go viral” far more quickly than typical advertising opportunities. For those of you who are not familiar with the term, “go viral” in the online world is when a blog, or article, video, or other social medium, is picked up by enough online outlets that it receives literally millions of views in hours. This doesn’t happen too often, but when it does anyone in close vicinity would like to be on the bandwagon.
You can now do for free what it used to cost thousands of dollars to do…make contacts. With this new change comes new “rules of engagement”. These social media sites are not about making sales, they are about making contact, building relationships…earning trust and credibility. Then those contacts tell everyone they know, who tells everyone they know about you, your business, service, or product.
Participation in social media requires thought and planning without which the whole exercise can easily turn into a huge waste of time. This makes it imperative to have a structured approach while considering a social media campaign. The preliminary step is to listen to the conversations that may already be occurring about yourself or your organisation. One way of doing this is by setting up an RSS feed that aggregates results from social media sites.

There’s more to social media than just Myspace, Facebook and Twitter
There’s more to social media than just Myspace, Facebook and Twitter
In the last 12 months, the extraordinary growth in Social Media has lead to a huge amount of public attention. With celebrities on Twitter and bands on MySpace, it could seem to many that Social Media means little more than Facebook & Co.
But Social Media is so much more than these three Internet monoliths. Social Media is also a highly effective way to market your goods and services online. It’s a tool that develops a 2-way relationship with your clients and potential clients, and it’s not simply broadcasting your message like traditional forms of advertising. Based on the old premise that ‘people buy from people’ – it’s developing an interactive connection with others.
Blogging – The efficacy of blogging has been proven time and again. It is a fantastic way for companies to offer a ‘slice of life’ perspective to their potential customers on how their business operates. It also generates lots of high quality, original content that Google laps up. Allowing comments on your blog allows people to interact with you and commenting on other people’s blogs gets more great links back to your site and gets your name and reputation spread further.
One more thing – you can ask people to ‘Guest Blog’ on your Blog and if you’re particularly successful, you could Guest Blog on someone else’s blog too. Blogging builds credibility online and helps to hog some of the important keyphrases associated with your business.
Multimedia – An overused term, but in the realms of Social Media Marketing, this refers to sites such as YouTube and Flickr. Creating a video and uploading it on YouTube is a synch these days. What’s more, YouTube is a member of the Google family meaning your video can be easily found. Photos are similar; they offer something personal with which people can connect with you. Podcasting is also a highly valuable tool for promoting your brand whilst adding the personal touch.
Reviewing – The Internet now offers rapid ways for consumers to spell out their dissatisfaction, but it also helps brand loyalty too. When you review, you spread your knowledge and people learn to rely on it. When you allow others to openly review your own goods and services, you promote openness and benefit from immediate feedback.
Forum – There are literally hundreds of thousands of forum sites online where people discuss topics and subjects related to your industry. This is a great place to insert yourself, build your credibility, discuss important matters and stay current within your sector. Many entries from these forums are visible on Google, offering additional SEO value.
It’s not just a matter of trying to sell yourself with these Social Media tools. It’s offering people help, advice and solutions that build into relationships.
Again, it’s not enough to simply choose one of these forms of Social Media and market to that form. In order to reach the widest range of potential customers/clients, you must use a fully integrated approach. When effectively blended with your SEO strategy, Social Media Marketing becomes a powerful tool for the promotion and development of your business.

You don’t need to be judgmental and irrational on issues pertaining in day to day life and if you do so, you will lose a hug e chunk of your potential and profitable customers. So make sure, whatever you say it has to be logical and very authentic because it’s all about social media marketing.
Adopt Consistency
In your social media marketing, you will have to develop your online personality by showing your consistent and regular presence. What time you go online, what time you post links, what time you are offline, what time people can catch you and you are available for them, what time you are little busy etc I mean they should know about these facts. But for that, you have to be on time to make them remember.
Time is not the only thing that makes you consistent or inconsistent, but your overall behavior towards certain issues, brand, people etc. It counts a lot in social media marketing.

Tips on Monitoring your Social Media Marketing
Tips on Monitoring your Social Media Marketing
Spend ten minutesin a day to monitor your social media marketing through the social networking websites.
1. Tweet about your company for about 2 minutes daily
You can monitor real time conversations about your company by using special twitter tools like twitter search. Use RSS feed to shift the various search results to your Google reader. This can be done easily by clicking on the small RSS orange icon after you complete a search.
2. Go through Google Alerts for about 1.5 minutes
Scan your Google Alerts for your company’s name, its products, executives’ names or other brand terms used often. To set things up for this scan to become possible, you can enter your search words and select to receive the updates whenever they happen (or maybe once every day). So, when people now post their blogs about your products, you will receive an alert in your inbox. You must give your quickest possible response to them.
3. Your FaceBook statistics for about a minute
For a minute, visit your company’s FaceBook page. You can find this when you click on the ‘more’ button under the main photo on the current page. Go through your fans list and view the fans count. Check once if any new discussion has started.
4. Remain LinkedIn for at least 3 minutes
Look for questions on linked in which are related to your industry type, which you or your company representative can answer. You can again set up an RSS feed for certain broad categories of the questions so that they directly go to your Google reader. When you see any relevant question, you must respond to it quickly and give a link (URL) to your company’s website.
5. Check other relevant social networking sites for about 2.5 minutes
You can use Google reader to check your Flickr, Digg, Delicious and other similar websites. You can again set up for an RSS feed. It will direct the search results of your company name and industry to your Google reader.
This step is similar to Twitter and Facebook, where again you can centralize your readers’ searches.

7 Tips to Using Social Media to Grow Your Business

When I talk to my clients about social media, the reactions are all over the map. Some love it and use it, some groan, and some just admit that they are confused by it. But social media is an important part of building your transformational business, so you’ll want to put it on your ‘must do’ list of business activities.
Here are some tips to make it easier:
Remember that it’s social first. Seek to connect with people, be helpful and friendly. Just like relating to people off-line, a helpful, cheerful attitude makes people remember you – in a good way.
Contribute to and comment on other people’s posts. In Facebook, this is a comment. In Twitter, you can re-tweet (RT), or pass on what others have said, with a comment if you have the space. This is just good etiquette. Some helpful resources for understanding social media etiquette are http://tinyurl.com/ylhrp2c and http://tinyurl.com/y4l98nd.
Use social media to post information about your events. You can create an event on Facebook, and send a notice about it to your friends. You can use Twitter to tweet a link to a sign-up page for a teleclass or program, and you can send an invitation using Linkedin to any event.
Set a time limit, such as 10 minutes once or twice a day to get on, check what’s happening, and post and contribute. Spending hours and hours on social media, unless it’s your specialty, can interfere with your other business activities.
Set up an automatic feed from your blog posts to social media, so your information automatically gets shared without you doing it manually.
You can set up automated posts, or have your VA or assistant do this, so you maintain a constant presence with things such as inspirational quotes, links to your or other’s blog articles or videos, or other helpful tips. It takes some of the pressure off if regular posts are coming from an automated source. To set up automated posts, use FutureTweets.com, Hootsuite.com, SocialOomph.com, just to name a few. You’ll still get on and post personally, but this expands your influence (and perceived helpfulness) without expanding your time invested on a daily basis.
Have fun! Be sure to mix up the personal and professional posts, and don’t be afraid to let your personality show. People want to know who YOU are, and social media is a perfect way to help them do that.

Why social media marketing might work for your business?
Why social media marketing might work for your business?
Social media marketing is the process of promoting your site or business through social media channels and it can prove to be a very powerful strategy that will help get you links, attention and massive amounts of traffic. If you want to sell your products/services or just publish content for ad revenue, social media marketing is one of the most potent methods that will make your site profitable over time.
Social media marketing can greatly help companies in getting natural links without any discernible pattern and your website is exposed to large groups of people in a spontaneous fashion. This differs from paid advertising which has overt commercial overtones.
Once successfully mastered, social communities can be a great source of web traffic on top of any traffic you are already receiving from search engines. Social media marketing campaigns bring you large amounts of backlinks that benefit your ranking in search engines. The more traffic your website can continually obtain, you will soon earn a higher ranking among the search engines. Helping your business to achieve a high ranking with the search engines can give your website much better visibility and online exposure, and keep the new customers coming. You can easily increase and control your search engine traffic through strategic marketing.
The costs associated with social media are limited to only time and perhaps the only expenses involved can be hiring a freelance programmer/designer. The benefits will often far exceed the cost because of its benefits. It would take you thousands of dollars to buy many links; social media has the ability to give you that for free. Social media marketing strategy will provide a partial or full replacement of traditional advertising and marketing and thus can result in very low costs.
A successful Social Media Marketing campaign leads to a more brand awareness through discussion online. When your brand is discussed, this works as it helps spread your message more effectively than tradition methods.
Once you have made the decision to dive into internet marketing, you will quickly realize that banner ads are not nearly as effective as social media marketing. Therefore social media marketing can prove to be a great tool for businesses nowadays.
